English Language Challenges

My experience learning English at University was a very good experience, because I discovered that it's necessary return the practice and keep on learning more about English, and it's an opportunity to keep practicing week to week.

The blogs is a good idea so we can practice and learn more vocabulary of different things, I think that this is very important because when I have to use English many times in the music context, and with the blogs I have to write about different topics, this way thinking in English is more natural and I have learnt more vocabulary that usually I don't use.

I think that I have to continue improveing in more aspects, especially speaking, because not always there are the opportunity to speak in English with others, and create a dialogue, but at the last time, especially in my career, is more necessary to learn English, for example the Masterclass or some rehearsal the teacher or the conductor spoke in English.

And this motivates me to improve, and try to read more texts in English, and try to think more in English, and not leave the practice.

Outside the class, I use English in a musical context, for example this year I have a masterclass with a Cellist Andres Diaz, and the masterclass was completely in English, and it was a very good experience because in a masterclass you always have to think fast, to be able to do the Indications or corrections that the teacher does in the way to play cello, and in this case thinking and speaking in English was a good challenge and fortunately I felt comfortable and was a good class, with this experience I discovered the necessary to know more language, because this way I can go to more masterclasses or courses to continue learning and improve as a musician, and to be able to communicate with other people not only in the musical context.

Some changes that could be made to my study programme

My career is Musical Interpretation, and it's a particular career, because many people don't know about this career, and in many cases they don't imagine that this career has two stages, The conservatory stage and the Superior Stage, for this reason my career is very long.

For this reason some changes that I'll do, could be create a new stage, paralllel to The conservatory stage, Something like a bachelor, thougth for the people that leave of 4° of secondary, and have a good level in their instrument but need a some years to be promoted to Superior, this way at the bachelor the student could have the necessary theoretical subjects,and passing to Superior could be more organized.
And this way the curriculum, would be more balanced among the stages of the career. The program this year changed and it's important that the new student knows about these changes that are implementing this year.

As to the building of my faculty, I think that the biggest problem, is that in some time it's so difficult to find a study room. It's necessary to have more rooms. 

I think that another aspect to be improved, is the Interaction between different careers, for example in this Faculty, there is Dance, Singing, or Sound, and could be interesting to make different activities that interact with the interpretation career, for example make an Opera, a Ballet, and recording this performance.

I think that always there will be things to improve, and it is importat  always search the upgrade of the way to do the things, because the musical career is very influenced of what happens in Europe and in many cases, not always, It is posible to have this information, for example the new way of interpretation, new techinques, and I think that this is an important point, to create more connections with the other countries, and in this way bring near what often seems distant.

Great places to eat with Junaeb/a restaurant review.

I usually cook every day, but sometimes, Sometimes we go with friends to eat sushi at a place called BakuSushi.

I think it's a very good place to eat, because it has many offers and different menus, for every taste. This is very important in our days.

Because I believe, it is important that a restaurant has vegetareanos menu, and this place has a good variety and at a good price.

This restaurant is located in the center of Santiago, Near metro Santa Ana, By Amunategui street.

The attention is very good, Making it a very good experience. Although as I mentioned, I usually cook every day I enjoy going to Baku Sushi, Especially when one goes with friends or family, because it is a good place to share and have a good time

So it is one of the restaurants that I recommend going to eat, especially my friends who like sushi. Because it's some of the best I've been in Santiago

Another good and express is Italissimo Express, located in Calle San Martin, and

It is a pizza place with many varieties, and  a very good price, the pizzas in this place are very rich and also a very good place to share with friends or family.

I also recommend this place, as the pizza is very good and the portion is generous.

As I mentioned, I usually cook, but I like to discover new places to eat, and I would like to know new places and different types of food

Street art



Is interesting think, that the  world is a canvas, and in every corner people can create a artwork, because with the art is theway of express and communicate many times no matter the barriers that  exist for example with the language.

Exist a type of street art that always interested me  thist is "Land Art"

Land Art  is a movement in which landscape and the work of art are  linked, also It is  an art form that is created in nature, using natural materials like stones, boulders, leaves, branches or mineral pigments. Is like create a big sculpture with the nature.

I like this type of art, because the artist have the possibility of create art with environment, and sometimes is the city the stage of this artwork, As is the case of Christo y Jeanne-Claude who In his work "umbrella" They installed yellow and blue umbrellas, in California and Ibaraki, Japan at the same time.
Another project of the pair, is "The Gates", this project was mounted at the Central Partk in New York.




Another work that I like very much, is "Spiral Jetty", of the North American artist Robert Smithson,
Who used 5,000 tons of black basalt blocks This work is located on the shore of the Great Salt Lake,
Where it creates a counter-clockwise spiral.





It's amazing as our environment can become In a work of art, And personally the Land Art I like very much.

SUMMER HOLIDAYS

 This summer I'd like go to the south of Chile, I like so much the South, it's a very good place to go, rest and enjoy. 
For this reason I'd like visit different cities of South, especially Valdivia, it's a city that I like so much, but I couldn't go on previous vacations.


In Valdivia, I have good friends, and they always tell me to go visit them, I'd like know the Botanical Garden of UACH, because I have listened that is a amazing place, with a lot of green areas, things that I miss, especially in a city like a Santiago, that with the routine I see a lot of buildings, and it becomes a necessity to breathe a better air.

In Valdivia I'd like to go in kayak, this is very funny and is a good option to refresh in summer.
I hope to visit all my friends that I have in Valdivia, and it's a good a idea go to eat differents things, like sushi or pizza.
I'd like to go to other cities of south too, and I hope I can do it. 

Other things that I'd like do this summer is to go back to composing, because it's something that I miss and I like so much, and I think that the south is a very good place to take inspiration and new ideas. 
And it's always important keep studying cello, take a rest is important but it's more important that I continue studying, especially when the repertoire is more interesting each time. And could be a good idea to return my electric guitar, because this year I have listened to many songs, that I'd like learn, and always is good have rock in the life.

Postgraduate studies

Postgraduate studies

In the future I'd like take a course of Conducting, because I like it so much and it's interesting for me to discover how an orchestra works, to be able to give the orchestra all this energy so they can play together, and can play what the composer really wanted in his works.

The subject that I'd like to study, and I think that are very important for the conducting are, first Solfege, I think this is very important, because, with the practice of solfege, people develop the skill of can sigth reading any music sheet, and the comprehension of the intervals.

Another subject that I think that is very important is Harmony, because this allows the comprehension of the chords and the importance of each note of this chord, this way I can know which note should sound more than another with the objective of a correct balance.

And it's important to know more history, because this helps to take the correct decisions, and can know what the composer wanted to write and express, and it's important to know as much as it could be possible from the style of the instruments that were played in the past.

Analysis is very important too, to know the form, the structure and know the direction of the prhases.

And among other subjects is the develpment of the "art of the gesture", it's important that it is as clear as it can be for the orchestra, and at the same time, it can express and connect with each member of the orchestra.

I'd like study in Europe, if it's possible in Germany, and for this I have to study a lot every day, because I think that to be a good conductor, you have to be a good instrumentalist, And I'd like continue learning cello too.

My future job


The job that I dream, is at the orchestra world, I like so much playing at the orchestra, for this reason I  hope to have the opportunity to work playing at a professional orchestra, and I would like to specialize at the conducting orchestra. For me conducting is very fascinanting, is a way to discover each voice at the orchestra and it's very important to imagine the sound in the mind of each instrument and how it has to sound together.

Outdoor or indoors, is a good question, because there are differents stages, in differents places and some are outdoor, and in this points I have mixed feelings because playing cello outdoors, isn't good for the cello, for the humidity, the temperature and other factors could be affect my cello. But there are stages that are very confortable to play outdoor, Always I remember, when with the National Young Orchestra we have played the 6° Symphony of Beethoven, " Pastoral" at the "Quinta Vergara" and at the Storm movement of the symphony, it start to rain, fortunately our instruments didn't get wet.

I like traveling so much, and with the orchestra I have the oppotunity to go to different places, and this is a thing that I like and enjoy of the music, that is the music lets me travel and know different people and places, and the music always gives the hope of meeting them again.

The salary at the professional orchestra is good, also I would like teach, cello and conducting, because I think that is very important, transmit the knowledge to the future generations.

MUSIC

Music is more important for me, is present in every day at different things that I do.

I like differents styles of music specially rock, and metal progresive, and style that name Shred guitar, that is virtuoso lead guitar solo playing style for the guitar,some guitarists of this style are Steve Vai, Jason Becker, Kiko loureiro among others.

And I like too music of Romanticism era of music, with composer like Brahms.

I enjoy a lot listen music, especially when I travel, because is a quiet moment, I like to discover new music and when this happen, I like to play this music and learn new songs, for this reason I prefer play music that listening, becouse is a way of give life to music.

A band that I like so much is Dream Teather, that is a band of progressive metal, and I like this band becouse they explore the full potencial of this instruments

And a composer that I like is a Brahms especially his Sympohony Nº 3 and Nº4, I like to study the score of this symphony for lear more about this music and how Brhams composed and used the orchestra.

The music is more important in my life because how I said is present every day, and when I discover a new musician, I like to read about the history and the context of this musician, so this way I can have more ideas at the time to play, and play music I have learn every day new things, and this is inspiring to improve.

The Best Concert Ever

The best concert ever was the concert of Paul McCartney in his last visit to Chile the 2014, at the "Movistar Arena".

Paul McCartney is a English singer, song writer, and multi instrumentalist and is famous being the bassist of the Beatles, and now have a successful career how a solist.

The atmosphere during the event was of a lot of happiness, becouse all the people was very happy by meet  Paul McCartney and listen his song live, and I went the concert whit a some friends of the orchestra, because, we did a different benefit concert, and can go to the concert was a gift, that Foundation de Orchestra received for us. That allowed us staid at the sound check and always I would be grateful for the opportunity of can go to this concert, Because I like different band and never I think that I can go to concert of Paul McCartney for example.

At the Concert I could listen all the hits, and the band that accompanied Paul have very good musician, especialy the guitarist that played a good solos of guitar.

A Country I’d like to visit is Germany

I’d like to visit Europe and its different countries, especially Germany. I’d like to visit Germany, because it is very important in the world of music, with composers as Bach, Beethoven or Brahms, and I’d like to know the place where all this music was created. And it is a good way to learn about the history of music. And in this way, have more ideas at the time to play music.

If I go to Germany I’d like to go to a concert of the Berliner Philharmoniker because it is one of my favorite orchestras, and if it’s possible I’d like to go to a concert of The 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic ,because as a cellist it is very important for me to listen to all these musicians. Also I’d like to visit Neuschwanstein Castle and Brandenburg Gate. And finally I’d like to study cello and conducting in Germany, because there are good teachers and conservatories. So, it is a good opportunity to continue learning and improving as a musician. Also, I’d like to learn how to speak german and improve it while living there.
